Exhibition preview: Miaz Brothers | Antimatter Series: A Boundless Vision

Lazarides Rathbone is pleased to present an exhibition by the Miaz Brothers. The artwork leads the viewer on a journey to discover the faces behind the blurred imagery…

We are thrilled to announce the return of Italian sibling duo, Miaz Brothers, to Lazarides Rathbone with their latest exhibition titled “Antimatter Series: A Boundless Vision.” Following their successful London debut in 2014 with “Dematerialized: A New Contemporary Vision,” the Miaz Brothers are back to present an exceptional collection of contemporary portraiture at the London gallery.

“Antimatter Series: A Boundless Vision” showcases the duo’s radical approach to portrait painting, where they focus on perception rather than traditional representation. In response to the overwhelming influx of information in modern society, the siblings, now based in Valencia, have continued to explore the boundaries of contemporary portraiture. The exhibition will feature their latest captivating paintings, which challenge the viewer to experience the same subject through multiple variations, defying fixed identification and giving rise to a more personal and boundless interpretation.

Previously known for their predominantly male-oriented portraits, the Miaz Brothers have expanded their horizons in “Antimatter Series: A Boundless Vision,” presenting an all-female imagery. The use of aerosol paints allows them to erase details from their large-scale works, replacing them with a mesmerizing dance of color particles. This deliberate obscurity demands the viewer’s attention and active participation in constructing the image for themselves.

Drawing inspiration from seventeenth-century renaissance painting, the exhibition delves into themes of awareness, perception, beauty, and the significance of portraiture in contemporary society. The Miaz Brothers’ artistic prowess lies in their ability to trigger the viewer’s awareness through their visually stimulating portraits, urging us to question our limitations in perception and ponder the fleeting nature of existence.

Join us for the opening reception of “Antimatter Series: A Boundless Vision” on Thursday, June 4, 2015, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Lazarides Rathbone. The exhibition will run from June 5, 2015, until July 2, 2015, giving art enthusiasts ample time to immerse themselves in the thought-provoking world of the Miaz Brothers.

Additionally, the Miaz Brothers will lead an exclusive artist-led tour of the exhibition at Lazarides Rathbone as part of the SohoCreate Festival, taking place on June 4, 2015, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
